The consequence of arrogance
There was a huge tree on the edge of a forest. As its roots reached deep into the ground, so did its stalks spread all around. The dense foliage of the tree provided shade to the people by blocking sunlight. The tree was inhabited by innumerable birds. The area around the tree was crowded with people and birds.
A sapling of a tree grows under this huge tree. It was a flexible and delicate yellow tree. It would bend in a little wind. One day two neighbors were talking. Aiming at the yellow tree, the big tree said: O small neighbor, why don't you penetrate your roots deeper into the ground? Why don't you stand with your head held high like me?
The yellow tree smiled softly and said: I don't see any need for it. In fact, this way I am safe.
The big tree said: Safe! Do you think you are safer than me? Do you know how deep my roots have penetrated? How thick and stiff is my stem? Even two people can't get along with me. Who will uproot me and bring me down?
The tree turned away, annoyed by the direction of the yellow tree. Who can tell what happens to whose fate?
One evening a terrible cyclone swept over the area. The cyclone uprooted the trees with roots, completely destroying the forest vegetation.
After the storm, the villagers went out to see the extent of the damage. The condition of the skyscrapers is absolutely deplorable. They are either uprooted or broken. Skeletons of trees seem to be scattered throughout the forest. Only one of these exceptions catches everyone's eye. That is the yellow tree. He also fell victim to the strong winds of the cyclone and fell to the ground. After the storm was over, he breathed a sigh of relief and raised his head again. But there was no sign of his huge neighboring tree.
